Motkoottan

Ingredients
1. Ash pumpkin ... 200 gm
2. Chow chow ... 200 gm
3. Raw (unripe) mango ... 200 gm
4. Water ... 300 ml
5. Chilly powder ... 1/2 tsp
6. Turmeric powder ... 1/4 tsp
7. Pepper powder ... 1/4 tsp
8. Salt (for items 1-8).. to taste
9. Coconut grated ... 1/3rd of coconut
10. Butter milk (sour) ... 1000 ml.
11. Green chillies ... 4 nos.
12. Salt for 9 - 12 ... to taste.

 

Method:

  1. 1. Cook items 1 to 8 in medium flame.
  2. Grind items 9 to 12 in a mixie like a juice.
  3. Mix both and cook in a stove.
  4. Just when it begins to boil once, remove it from the stove quickly or else the entire thing may curdle. THIS IS MOST IMPORTANT.
  5. For seasoning: take 1 tsp coconut oil, add 1/2 tsp mustard, 1/2 tsp fenugreek, 1 red chilly and fry till golden brown and add it to the morkoottan.
  6. Garnish with curry leaves.
