Molagoottal

Ingredients
1. Drumstick ... 4
2. Turmeric powder ... 1 tsp
3. Salt ... to taste
4. Toor dhal ... 100 gms

For Masala:
5. Coconut oil ... 1 tsp
6. Urad dhal ... 2 tsp
7. Asafoetida powder ... 1 pinch
8. Red chilly ... 1 no.

For seasoning:
9. Fried coconut gratings ... 1 tsp
10. Mustard ... 1/2 tsp
11. Urad dhal ... 1 tsp
12. Red chilly ... 1 no.

To make a paste:
13. Cocout gratings ... 1/4 (of a coconut)
14. Cummins (Jeera) ... 1 tsp.

For Dressing :
1. Finely chopped onion ... 3/4 cup
2. Finely chopped green chillies ... to taste
3. Cummin seeds (Jeera) ... 1/2 tsp

 

Method:

  1. Cut the drumsticks into 2" pieces and cook it in water with turmeric powder and a little salt.
  2. In another burner, cook the toor dhal in 200 ml water.
  3. Fry urad dhal (2 tsp), a pinchof asafoetida and red chilly in 1 tsp coconut oil till golden brown, and grind them into a chutney
  4. Add the fried items with coconut gratings and 1 tsp cummin seeds (jeera) and grind them into a paste.
  5. After the drumstick is cooked well, add the masala, kee over the stove, add the required salt and cook for 5 to 6 minutes.
  6. For seasoning, fry 1 tsp fried coconut, 1/2 tsp mustard 1 tsp urad dhal aqnd one red chilly in 1 tsp coconut oil and add it to the above mixture.
  7. Dress it (Garnish) with curry leaves.
