Jhatpat Masala Khichadi
Ingredients
Rice - 2 cups
Tuvar Dal - 1 cup
onion - 1 medium medium chopped
potato - 1 medium medium chopped
tomato - 1 medium (optional) medium chopped
oil - 2tbsp
mustard seeds - 1 tsp
aesofoetida - 1/2 tsp
turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
garlic - 5-6 flakes (finely chopped)
red chilly - 2-3 nos
lemon juice - 1 tsp
dhana-jeera powder - 1 tsp
salt to taste
warm water - 4 cups
Method:
- wash rice and tuvar dal and keep for 10 mins.
- in a pressure pan, heat some oil and put mustard seeds.
- when they crackle, add aesofoetida and finely chopped garlic and red chillies.
- then add turmeric powder and chopped onions, potatoes and tomato. saute for 2 mins,
- then add the washed rice and tuvar dal. saute till it mixes.
- then add dhana jeera powder and salt as per taste and warm water. 7.lastly add lemon juice and cook for 10 mins after 1 whistle. (tuvar dal should be properly cooked).
- serve hot with papad and achar of your choice!
