Thavaladai

Ingredients
1. Boiled Rice ... 100 gm
2. Raw Rice ... 100 gm
3. Toor dhal ... 100 gm
4. Bengal gram ... 100 gm
5. Urad dhal ... 100 gm
6. Green gram (moong dhal dehusked & broken ).. 100 gm
7. Red chillies ... 5 nos
8. Green chillies ... 4 nos
9. Hing (asasoetida) ... small piece
10. Coconut (cut into small pieces) )... 50 gm
11. Curry leaves ... 2 stalks
12. Coriander leaves ... 1 stalk
13. Salt ... to taste
14. Oil ... to fry.

 

Method:

  1. Soak boiled rice, raw rice, toor dhal,bengal gram and urad dhal in water for 2 hours.
  2. Soak moong dhal (green gram) separately in water water for 2 hours.
  3. Grind the boiled rice, raw rice, toor dhal, bengal gram and urad dhal, salt and asafoetida into a coarse batter.
  4. Squeeze the soaked green gram (moong dhal) well and add to the batter.
  5. Add the coriander leaves, curry leaves, coconut pieces to the batter and mix well.
  6. Heat oil in a kadai and pour 1 ladle of batter into the oil and deep fry till golden brown.
  7. Remove from the stove and serve.
