Pepper Kuzhambu

Ingredients
1.Tamarind ... 1 medium lemon size
2. Pepper ... 50 gm
3. Red chillies (dry) ... 5 nos
4. Urad dhal ... 50 gm
5. Hing (asafoetida) ... small piece
6. Curry leaves ... 1 stalk
7, Mustard ... 1 tsp
8. Salt ... to taste
9. Turmeric powder ... 1/2 tsp
10. Water ... 400 ml
11. Gingelly oil ... 4 tbsp

 

Method:

  1. Heat 2 tsp gingelly oil i a kadai
  2. Add hing first. followed by urad dhal and pepper.
  3. After the urad dhal turns brown and the pepper splatters, add the tamarind, red chillies and fry.
  4. Add a stalk of curry leaves and take it off from the stove.
  5. Grind it in a mixie with 400 ml of water into a nice paste.
  6. Again, heat the rest of the oil, add mustard and after it splatters, add the ground paste, the required salt, tyrmeric powder and boil it till it becomes thick in consistency and remove from the stove.
  7. This Recipe is very good for winter season.
