Khatti Masala Daal

Ingredients
Tur dal - 2 cups
Onions - 1 big
Tomatoes - 1-2
Tamarind - 1 golf ball size
Ginger and Garlic paste - 1 tsp
Turmeric - 1 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Jeera - 1 tsp
Curry leaves
Oil
Salt to taste.

 

Method:

  1. Boil tur dal and smash it well
  2. In a kadai, take 1 tbs oil and put curry leaves and jeera. Add onion and mustard seeds. Fry the onion till brown.
  3. Add ginger and garlic paste. Fry for 1 min.
  4. Add tomatoes. Fry till oil separates.
  5. Add turmeric and red chilli powder. Stir it well for 2 mins.
  6. Add tamarind. Stir it well.
  7. Add the smashed tur dal to the above. Add salt to taste. Add water as per your requirements.
  8. Boil for 5 mins.Garnish with coriandar leaves.
