Kalan

Ingredients
3 cups thick butter milk
2 cups Yam or Raw plantain (thin slices)
1 tsp fenugreek
1 tsp black pepper
1/2cup grated coconut
4 green chillies
1 tbsp coconut oil
1/2 tsp mustard
few curry leaves
Salt as required

 

Method:

  1. Cook the veggies till half done in turmeric water and decant the water can use it for grinding
  2. Now pour butter milk on the veggies and keep it on sim till well cooked.
  3. Wet grind the coconut and chillies into fine paste&mix it well with veggies.
  4. Add salt.
  5. Allow the whole thing to boil once and switch of the gas
  6. Now grind the black pepper fenugreek into powder for add it to the kalan.
  7. Fry mustard seeds and curry leaves in coconut oil and add it the gravy.
