Kadai Chenna

Ingredients
1. White Channa ... 1 cup
2. Onion -- chopped ... 1/2 cup
3. Tomatoes -- chopped ... 1/2 cup
4. Coriander leaves ... 1 stalk
5. Channa masala powder ... 1 tsp
6. Ginger ... 1" piece
7. Garlic ... 4 flakes
8. Dhaniya (coriander seed) powder ... 2 tsp
9. Cummin seed powder ... 1 tsp
10. Amchur powder ... 1 tsp
11. Red chilly powder ... 1 tsp
12. Turmeric powder ... 1/4 tsp
13. Salt ... to taste
14. Cummin seeds ... 1 tsp
15. Oil ... to fry

 

Method:

  1. Cook white channa in water and keep the filtered water.
  2. Grill the tomatoe (fix it in a fork and show it in the flame, peel off the outer skin and cut it into small pieces.
  3. Heat oil in a kadai, add cummin seeds, onion with a pinch of salt and saute till golden brown
  4. Add the ginger, garlic and saute till its flavour is felt
  5. Add the tomatoes and saute well
  6. Add channa masala powder (2 tsp), dhaniya powder (2 tsp), cummin seeds powder (2tsp), amchur powder, turmeric powder, red chilly powder, the required salt and saute well
  7. Add 1/2 cup of the filtered water (of the cooked channa) and bring it boil.
  8. Add the cooked channa and switch off the stove.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and a little sugar.
